Syedna's personal life revolves entirely around the religious and social needs, concerns, well-being and progress of the Dawoodi Bohra community. He consistently endeavours in introducing and implementing the means of strengthening and enlightening the faithful. The perpetual motivation to Syedna’s actions is to provide perspectives and guidance in life and to assist in the community’s social upliftment.

Commemoration and remembrance of the martyrdom of Imam Husain (AS), grandson of Prophet Mohammed (SAW), by observance of Moharram is a significant event held annually by Syedna in different cities of the world. These ten days, attended by thousands of community members from all over the globe, are observed with extraordinary religious fervour. Syedna delivers discourses that educate, inspire and advise the followers to abide by the principles of Shariah. These gatherings also allow community members of varied professions to meet, and thereby encourage social and commercial relationships.

Several aspects of the Dawoodi Bohras' life styles have been enriched and upgraded by Syedna. Low finance housing schemes sponsored by him have made it possible for thousands to own homes. Syedna’s specially organized audiences (Bethak), the practice of listening to and attending to the grief and problems of daily life have relieved many from their pains and tribulations. His farsighted approach to the spread of knowledge has been essential in the development of a distinctive community language. A uniform dress code has given the community a distinct and unique identity of which it is proud.

Syedna has encouraged the community's further development efforts by stating on his 92nd birthday celebrations that it be marked by efforts to uplift 9,200 Dawoodi Bohra families. This directive has widely encouraged community members to assist one another through the prescribed guidance of Syedna. This specific upliftment programme is primarily carried out by adopting a whole family in need or by providing one with business know-how in order to help promote one’s financial and social well being or by providing monetary support to develop one's livelihood. Syedna's love and respect for nature is embodied in his prose and poetry that are abound with references to the natural world. The appreciation of nature's beauty is also apparent in Fatemi art.
 

Syedna's keen interest in the physical and educational well being of the young is internationally acclaimed. A large number of sports facilities and institutes have been established by Syedna all over the world.

It is apparent that not only the Dawoodi Bohras but thousands of others have benefited from the numerous Public Trusts, hospitals and clinics established by Syedna. The newly reconstructed, 259 beds, Saifee Hospital, in Mumbai, is a landmark effort of Syedna in promoting quality healthcare facilities.

His teachings and messages of love and comfort influence the homes and hearts of the faithful. From kings to common men, all have deeply been touched and greatly benefited by Syedna's valuable guidance and wisdom.


 

The Burhani Medical Idarah (BMI) established by Syedna is an international body of Dawoodi Bohra doctors. BMI not only organizes health education programmes for medical awareness within the community but, also undertakes the technical, administrative and professional upgrading and development of medical institutes run by the Dawoodi Bohras world over. This provides superior medical services to fellow citizens. Syedna's unswerving philanthropic contributions and assistance to innumerable medical institutions and human welfare activities have ensured a remedial change in many a life.
